Signaling tape is made of polyethylene or polypropylene, being a durable and resistant plastic material. The tape can have specific colors and messages to indicate the type of cable or conduit below, such as:
- Electrical cables: Yellow tape with messages like "Electrical Cable" or "Caution: Electrical Cable"
- Telecommunication cables: Green tape with messages like "Telecommunication Cable" or "Do Not Dig"
- Gas pipelines: Red tape with messages like "Gas Pipeline" or "Caution: Gas"
- Water pipelines: Blue tape with messages like "Water Pipeline" or "Do Not Dig"
The tape is placed in the trench or excavation, generally at a depth of 30-50 cm above the cable or conduit.
